  • Oct. 11th – Remember to complete the Return to Learn Questionnaire.  It is not too late, but the window closes today, Sunday, October 11th, and your voice deserves to be heard!  We’ve had many families complete the survey and I am hoping that everyone’s voice is included. Below are a few links and notes that will help you if you or someone you know hasn’t responded yet!
  • Things to know:
    • This questionnaire is being provided to all households of students enrolled in Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS). (Desplazar el cursor hacia abajo para leer este mensaje en español.)
    • Please assist our planning for the second nine weeks of school by completing it by Sunday, Oct. 11. While responses are not considered “binding” at this time, please carefully consider your answers, as HCPS will rely greatly on this information for planning purposes
    • Please use this link to get started:
    • You may download a paper copy by using the link below.

There is also an option to print a paper version of the questionnaire at home. Visit this page: Please return the completed copies to your school.

If you have any difficulties accessing this questionnaire, please contact Helen Whitehurst at

  • Oct. 12th – Monday, Oct.12th is a Day 2.
  • Oct. 14th – Rolfe’s Road Rally!

We are excited to invite you to “Rolfe’s Road Rally” on Wednesday, October 14th, 2020. Between the hours of 5 pm and 6 pm, you are invited to meet your students’ teachers from the comfort and safety of your vehicles.

Beginning at Five O’clock PM, starting at the parking lot of Varina High School, you will be directed to drive the route around the grounds of John Rolfe Middle School. The teachers and staff will be at multiple stations around the campus ready to greet our wonderful students!

The first cars to arrive will receive a backpack full of gift items until supplies run out.  Also, you will receive an email with a link that will allow you to vote for the department with the most school spirit.

Additionally, you are encouraged to decorate your vehicles to show your school spirit!

The staff and faculty at John Rolfe Middle School cannot wait to see our students and families in person for the first time this year during the Rolfe Road Rally. Wednesday, October 14th between the hours of 5 pm and 6 pm.

We hope to see you there!

  • As a team and family, our focus is to develop life-ready thinkers. We believe honoring our legacy provides a future of success.  We will continue to celebrate students for positive behaviors as we continue our campus-wide expectations. Our JRMS Team will…*be Respectful *be Responsible *Ready and *be Safe. This is the spirit of Team Rolfe. Although the learning platform is different, students are still expected to come to class each period, each day, ready to learn, demonstrating, and receiving respect, all while in a safe environment.  We were excited to have several students recognize positive behaviors!  If you haven’t received a positive referral yet, here are a few tips to help continue to rise as a Rolfe Leader. Continue to be…
    • Respectful- Follow the guidelines of your teacher for virtual learning. Your teacher will review virtual learning expectations and help you learn to navigate the digital classroom. Parents, students should be able to answer the following questions each day.
      • What are you learning?
      • Why are you learning it?
      • How do you know you’ve mastered it? (How do you know when you really got it?
    • Responsible-It is very important that students attend each class. We want our students to #ShowUp. We will actively monitor student attendance, engagement, and participation. There is designated time for learning with the teacher and independent studies as well, but we want everyone to show up ready to learn.
    • Ready -There aren’t any bells this year in virtual learning. Setting a timer and posting the bell schedule near a student’s workspace is a great tool to get ready. Attempt to log into class at least 5 minutes before the stated time!
    • Safe- Your child’s password is private. Please teach them to learn it, record it in a safe location, and don’t share it with other students. Students should restrict their virtual communications with the sites provided or approved by their teacher.
      • Virtual Backgrounds must be HCPS Issued or school approved.
      • Students should log in with their HCPS credentials and not as guests.
      • Only accept meeting invitations from your teachers
