Dear Parents and Guardians:
This is a reminder that John Rolfe Middle School students will be participating in the NWEA Reading MAPs (Measurement of Academic Progress) assessment on January 5 – 8, 2021. Prior to our Winter Break, I shared information about the assessment and ways to support students during this assessment. Attached you will find a copy of the earlier letter for your reference.
We are excited to be able to participate in this administration because this test will allow teachers to track student progress and growth in Reading and to focus on a student’s strengths and/or learning opportunities. Teachers will use the Reading MAP Growth results individually, in small groups, and in whole groups to guide instruction. The Reading MAP Growth test results will provide teachers and parents with detailed, accurate information about a child’s growth from the winter to the spring administration.
In order for teachers to get accurate information, it is imperative that the following guidelines be followed to ensure the integrity and security of test results:
- Prohibited use of unauthorized electronic devices, outside internet sources, and/or assistance to students.
- Prohibited use of unapproved assessment materials (no scratch paper, pencils, highlighters, etc.)
- Prohibited use of photographing, hand copying, screen capturing, and/or video recording of test questions and test sessions.
Remember this assessment is design to measure where students are so there is nothing student scholars need to study. To ensure student success, following the guidelines listed above (and in the letter), getting a good night’s rest, and ensuring a class session free from distractions will provide a successful day. Everything you can do to ensure your child and our scholar is present and prepared will bring ultimate success.
