Greetings John Rolfe Families,
As shared with you a few weeks ago, Mrs. George has accepted a new position for the 22-23 school year, and we thank her for her leadership over the past three years. I would like to thank families and staff for sharing your feedback regarding the characteristics you are looking for in your next principal. We are excited to share that we have selected Mr. Darryl Johnson as the incoming principal, who will begin in July. Mr. Johnson’s introductory message is attached (below). Have a wonderful weekend and thank you for your support.

Director of Middle School Education
Message from Mr. Daryl Johnson:
Hello, John Rolfe Family!
Introducing myself as the incoming principal of John Rolfe Middle School is a tremendous honor. I am excited to have the privilege of joining this vibrant community!
For the past thirteen years, I have been in education, serving as a school counselor and assistant principal in Prince William, Virginia Beach, and Fairfax County. My previous divisions afforded me the opportunities to work in an International Baccalaureate program, alternative education services, and an Entrepreneurship and Business academy. These experiences continue to shape my views of service, community,
citizenship, and post-secondary school opportunities.
I received my undergraduate and Masters degrees from Norfolk State University, and since that time I have continued my education at George Washington University and Old Dominion University. My ongoing areas of interest are curriculum alignment, student engagement, character development, and equity.
A top priority for me is getting to know our students and staff as soon as possible, as well as meeting with parents and community stakeholders, to use your goals to develop mine. My philosophy of leadership is deeply rooted in equity, excellence, trust, and accountability. I am eager to further familiarize myself with the John Rolfe community values and work to build a shared vision for the future.
As we begin this journey, I look forward to us working together to pursue our shared vision and creating a meaningful experience for our students.
Your Proud Incoming Principal,
Darryl L. Johnson
