The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) recognized 21 Deep Run CIT students with an Aspirations in Computing Award. This award honors students for their computing-related achievements and interests, selecting recipients based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, tenacity in the face of barriers to access, and future plans. Today in Mrs. Leath's Algebra 2 classes, students celebrated Pi Day with a competition. Students showed off their memorization skills by competing to see who could list the most digits of pi. Hamzah and Tristan also wrote code to create "pi checkers" that students used to verify their answers and tally how many digits they were able to correctly name.

She did it y'all!! Milla Hartford WON the Poetry Out Loud State Competition on Friday, March 8th in Waynesboro, Virginia! We’re so proud of her hard work and her poised, polished poetry recitations!!
Last month’s 2nd Annual Black History Month Poetry Slam was amazing! Henrico Co students graced the stage with poise, voice, and power. Deep Run’s own Jonathan Dubois was recognized as the High School Recipient of the Maya Angelou Recognition of Voice & Activism and received the Amanda Gorman Recognition for Change/Best Overall Performance!

Our DRHS Writing Center consultants have had fun connecting with former teachers and making new friends at Twin Hickory Elementary School as they worked with 4th and 5th grade students on writing.
